ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Bruce's photographs are an expression of his attraction to simplicity within his subject matter. Simple and limited subject matter and colors combined with a unique quality of light and a passion for photography and travel result in the photographs before you that are part of THE SIMPLICITY COLLECTION. The collection has been captured using film and digital cameras throughout the world including locations in Tuscany Italy, Martha's Vineyard MA, New Orleans LA, Naples FL, Key West FL, San Francisco CA, New York NY,and Cleveland OH.
Residing in Northeast Ohio, Bruce's photographic background stems from 25 years of experience on multiple levels including staff and freelance positions with various publications and self-employment within the photographic processing and portrait industry. Bruce has focused his attention on fine art photography over the last 15 years and shares his passion and knowledge of photography with eager to learn fellow photographers on the island of Martha's Vineyard during a workshop held by his mentor and friend Alison Shaw (please visit www.alisonshaw.com).
As an extension of his regular gallery exhibitions, Bruce spent the summer of '05 on the the art show circuit completing 15 consecutive shows from St. Louis to Rochester, NY and many points in between including the country's largest art fair in Ann Arbor, Michigan, "The State Street Fair". Bruce was the featured artist at this fair and his image "Tuscany" was featured on all promotional materials for the fair, a true honor.
TECHNICAL: Bruce's film of choice for many years was Fuji Film's Velvia transparency film. In the early part of 2006, Bruce converted to digital photography by purchasing a Canon 30D digital SLR.
Cameras used have included the Canon EOS 1, Pentax 645 and Pentax 67 bodies combined with Canon, Pentax and Tamron lenses.
While shooting slide film, which this site is composed largely of, the only digital technology applications were used in minor retouching or during reproduction (when transparencies are scanned to a digital source for the purpose of printing). While shooting digitally, minimal changes have been made to the original outside of increased color saturation to replicate the effects Velvia film used to provide or to crop an image.
Unless otherwise stated, or unless the image is black and white, all prints are printed on Fuji Crystal Archive's Super High Gloss, highly color saturated photographic paper, matted with a pure white, 8 ply archival quality matt with archival quality foam core or matt backing boards. All prints and matts are signed and numbered.
